Intention & Impact

Wow Friends Wow! These last couple of weeks have been a whirl wind but here we are. Open for business.

You’ve all been so wonderfully supportive as we got over the last few hurdles to opening and your reward is in the shop. The shelves are stocked, and we are ready to put your address on a package and get it out to you.

Before we do that, let’s talk a little bit about what you are supporting when you purchase our Food Wraps. Did you know everything from our logo design to packaging materials to the website we use are all Canadian. As Canadians it was important to us to shop local and small if we could. Our beeswax comes from local apiary’s, our cotton is repurposed or organic to lessen our impact from growing and dying. Every element of our business is Canadian. There is one exception to this and that is our mailers. Our mailers come from a company in Colorado, I can hear you asking, why Colorado of all places? It’s because the mailers we use are made from 100% post consumer waste and not only are they recyclable obviously, they are also compostable. This is important because it means they truly are zero waste. We couldn’t find a Canadian company that offered a similar product, if you know of one please let us know.

Speaking of zero waste. We couldn’t very well sell a zero waste plastic free product and package it in waste, could we? Nope. We couldn’t. That’s why the packaging on every set of Food Wraps is not only compostable, it’s also plantable. Our packaging is a plantable paper that’s certified by CFIA for planting across Canada and does not contain any invasive species or noxious weeds. This small Mother / Daughter company out of Winnipeg takes waste paper and makes it in to seed paper. It’s brilliant. And perfect. And we love it. This packaging is our gift to you, to remind you to stop and smell the flowers, it also feeds the bees which we are more than fond of.

As you can see, every element of our business was chosen with intention. Each supplier chosen because they align with our values and strive to make the world better, because they’re small and local.  When you purchase our products or share our posts or tell your friends not only are you supporting us and them, but you’re saying these things matter. That intention and source and cause and effect, the impact of our choices, they all matter.  We can’t wait to hear your voice.

  • What a great product. A big step forward in reducing our dependency on plastics. The paper sleeve is an added bonus. Well done
